"Last Call"
"Last Call" is a cultural tribute to the vibrancy and social vitality of metropolitan American nightlife. In this installation, thirteen life-sized sculptures interact with a 22-foot mahogany bar. This traditional New York bar scene is seen as common ground for men and women of diverse occupations and ethnic backgrounds. The bar's customers, created in resin and painted in full color, become theatre-like characters, acutely observed and rendered with humor. The installation includes for the first time pastel paintings with a biography of each of the characters and may include someone you know! The installation penetrates the viewers five senses: visually experiencing the culture; hearing the music and bar sounds, touching video games; smelling peanut shells and sawdust and tasting popcorn and peanuts.
